Nurturing the Forgotten: Supporting Low-Resource Elders with Care and Compassion
In a society where success often overshadows struggle, one group remains silently at risk: elderly individuals with little to no resources. These are our grandparents, mentors, and former workers who have contributed to society, yet now live in conditions of hardship, isolation, or neglect. At Sathya Sadhana Foundation, we believe that no person should be left behind in their old age, especially those who cannot afford basic necessities.
That’s why we launched “Nurture Low Resource”, an initiative dedicated to supporting senior citizens from low-income or abandoned backgrounds, giving them not just help but hope.
Why Focus on Low-Resource Elders?
Millions of elderly people across India and beyond are:
-
Living below the poverty line
-
Without access to pensions or family support
-
Lacking proper shelter, food, or healthcare
These seniors face daily struggles just to survive. Many are invisible to the system without ID cards, medical history, or financial aid. "Nurture Low Resource" aims to bridge that gap, offering care where it’s needed most.
Our Approach: More Than Aid, We Nurture
At Sathya Sadhana Foundation, nurturing means long-term, sustainable care. Here’s how we help elders in low-resource situations:
Safe Shelter
Through our Vijaya Homes for Elders, we provide clean, safe, and fully subsidized housing for seniors who have nowhere else to go. Our homes are more than a shelter, they’re places of dignity and warmth.
Daily Nutrition
Hunger is a silent crisis among the elderly. We provide three nutritious meals daily to all residents, with special attention to medical diets for chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
Free Healthcare
With no income, most low-resource elders skip medical care. We offer regular health checkups, free medication, and emergency care, ensuring their wellbeing is not determined by their wealth.
Emotional & Social Support
Loneliness is common among the poor elderly. Our caregivers, volunteers, and peer groups provide companionship, conversation, and joy, restoring a sense of belonging.
Real Change, One Life at a Time
The impact of nurturing even one elder is powerful. With your support, we’ve been able to:
-
House over 80+ seniors, many of whom were homeless or abandoned
-
Sponsor 100% costs for nearly 20 elders each year through donations
-
Provide 12,000+ meals annually to those in need
These aren’t just numbers, they’re new beginnings for people who once had no hope.
How You Can Nurture a Life
You don’t need to do everything. But you can do something. Here’s how you can help:
-
Sponsor a Senior: Just ₹2,500/month can cover one elder’s full care.
-
Donate Essentials: Medicines, clothing, hygiene kits, or mobility aids.
-
Volunteer Your Time: Spend an hour a week bringing joy to someone's day.
-
Corporate Giving: Partner with us through your CSR initiatives.
Let’s Build a Society That Remembers Its Elders
At Sathya Sadhana Foundation, we believe compassion is the highest form of humanity. Through Nurture Low Resource, we are bringing care, love, and dignity to those who need it most and we can’t do it without you.
Be the reason an elder smiles today. Help us nurture a life.
